Missing the Drama

Maybe it is because it's Good Friday, but man what I wouldn't give for another test match to watch. No amount of IPL is going to fill that gap.

Not 1961

No run out, no tie, but the image certainly has the feel of something from the glorious past.

Meeting Challenges Head On

Michael Clarke displays the old Aussie battling spirit and puts his head on the line. A display not apparently lost on his bowlers.

Solidly Unorthodox

The Shiv does it his own way, and he does it again.

You can have nothing but admiration for him as a cricketer.

Padding Up

After watching a few games of The Big Bash it is good to contemplate Mushfiqur Rahim and the almost lost art of padding up.

Mushfiqur accumulated close to 100 runs in the second test at a strike rate somewhere in the 30's - stirring stuff for the purist.

Warner Strikes

Steady on David. We have all felt that way about wicketkeepers, but there are some things you just can't do in the modern era.

At The Crease

Getting to the crease is all very well but Ponting's future seems to rest on whether he can stay there with a bat in his hand.

Not Pretty, Just Gritty

Angelo Mathews showed the sort of stickability some of the guys batting above him need to develop.

It doesn't have to be pretty you just got to be there.

Run Shiv Run

Head down and going for it, Shiv Chanderpaul pushes for the two he needs to complete another test ton.

He is one of my favourite cricketers - I just love the way he can do his own thing while still carrying his team on those thin yet wiry shoulders.

Going Both Ways

Dhoni and Raina might be running in different directions but you can tell by the look on their faces they both have the same objective.

Welcome To Bridgetown

Suresh Raina gets a traditional greeting from Ravi Rampaul on Day 1 at Bridgetown

It is a great bit of photography from the Getty crew - those hands tell you everything there is to know about facing the bouncer.

Middle Age Spread

I was always under the impression, backed up by some personal experience, that as you aged your middle got bigger.

Seems to me that the middle of the aging Aussie batting line up is getting thinner. Could it be some sort of Jenny Craig effect?

Small But Mighty

Eion Morgan is in danger of becoming a cult hero.

  • A six to reach your maiden test century.
  • All the difficult shots.
  • Little man verses the world.
  • Success in all forms of the game.
  • Good back story.

All things that will endear him to The England faithful and bandwagon jumpers every where.

Eion would do well to look at what has happened to some of the other cult heroes that have gone before - that might be where he "finds the fear" that he doesn't currently have at the crease.

Like A Fine Wine...

... he just keeps maturing.

Yesterday's image of the young master contrasts well with the veteran in this shot, still doing what he does best.

If Tendulkar was a wine, what variety would he be?

A Quiet Satisfaction

Forty test centuries! If that is not worth a wry smile and a quick commune with the heavens I don't know what is. I have a great regard for the introverted sportsman.

Captain Courageous

That is the problem of being from such a small bloody country, you can only produce one really good player at a time. All is well when he has a good day, or 5, but when he struggles the nation gets depressed. We just hope he doesn't struggle for a little while yet.

I can't get over the fact that he is still only 29, for some guys that is the start of a career. May his light shine for a while longer yet.

A Slight Obsession

It's my problem and I am trying to deal with it. I just can't stop playing with images of Andre Nel, he is just so damn photogenic. I promise the next image will be of someone much less interesting.

With a Rebel Nel

Yahoo, my favourite nut job is back and dangerous.

And what a pity Michael Vaughan got his fourth "good ball" of the series. At least he didn't have to wait a long time for it.
