An Old Favourite

Andre Nel is another of those favourite cricket characters that the T20 circuit has brought back on to the cricket viewing screen.

It would be a shame to have that face and attitude restricted to just a limited local audience.

Andre Gets Out

A lonely experience even for someone with the ego integrity of an Andre Nel. Still, you can always blame the pitch.

Andre The Yell

It is great to know that out there on the county circuit is a loose cannon just waiting to scream at any batsman coming within his gaze. Now if we could get a few batsman to retaliate they could increase the price of admission.

A Slight Obsession

It's my problem and I am trying to deal with it. I just can't stop playing with images of Andre Nel, he is just so damn photogenic. I promise the next image will be of someone much less interesting.

Yahoo, my favourite nut job is back and dangerous.

And what a pity Michael Vaughan got his fourth "good ball" of the series. At least he didn't have to wait a long time for it.

Passion My Arse!

You can blame The Atheist at AYALAC for getting me into this rant, though to be fair it has been building for some time. Deep breath, here goes.

Passion is for the bedroom not the sports field. Any cliche spouting halfwit can tell you he is passionate about something. So bloody what? If passion was the essential ingredient we would damn near all have Olympic medals and world champion status. In the '90s we had to "strive for excellence" now in the '00s we must be passionate about what we do - instance Peter Moores, Graham Henry and just about every plonker who applies for a job these days.

What is the point of being passionate if you have no idea how to achieve your goals. Get some skills, develop a plan, be bloody cunning and make sure you win. Old Andre pictured above wears his heart on his sleeve but that doesn't get him any wickets - that takes skill and perseverance - if it just took the ability to shout at people I would have more 1st class wickets than Murali and Warne combined.

Remember, if someone tells you they are passionate they had better be about to stick something cute and wet in your ear, failing that find someone with more brains and less heart.

Restraint

Just because the word art is in the blog title doesn't mean I won't pander to the lowest common denominator, and we all just love the raw insanity of our man Andre. As things build slowly to 5th day in Adelaide and players fulfill their contractual obligations in Pakistan it is left to the mad one to inject some interest into SA v WI - if that is humanly possible - and lets face it Andre is not where you would go for "human".

Andre Yell

Thank God for Andre Nel. As the short form of the game gets more and more bland it comes down to personality to make things interesting and this boy has more personality than is probably good for any one person. Perhaps "madman" will become a recognized position in any teams line up just to keep us tuning in.

Intense

When you bat, bowl and field with true intensity most things are possible.

Cool Down

It gets very hot in Pakistan but it is good to see that the SA boys don't loose that natural aggression even while having a swim - at least that's what we think they are doing.
