Make A Note

Kaushal Lokuarachchi might not be easy to pronounce but there are a few commentators who are going to have to get their tongues around it in the next few years.

Unnatural

Stuart Meaker shows yet again that bowling is not a natural physical action, but it helps if you skint a bit, contort the mouth and do something a little strange with your hands. All worth it if you can take 6 for 39.

This image "adjusted" with the Moku Hanga App and a few Photoshop tweaks.

Inspirational Cricket

Farhan Saeed gives it plenty for the Pakistan Disabled cricket team.

There are a lot of sad jokes I could make about able bodied bowlers but in this case all I can say is good on you Farhan.

Good to see cricket is becoming a part of a greater range of nationalities and people.

An Oldy But A Goody

There is so little of real interest going on at present I hope I may be forgiven for dwelling in the past.

Now I am old, but not that old that I can remember Jim Laker bowling in 1958. He is a legendary spinner, whether I saw him bowl or not, and as such gets his own little homage - and I just like the bowling action.

Curtly and Courtney

A blast from the not too distant past. I love this image of Ambrose and Walsh leaving the field at the end of the day. Seems to embody the size and power of the two, the effort that they have been putting in through out the day and the camaraderie of the fast bowling fraternity.

Go Hard

James Pattinson, with a little help from Photoshop's puppet warp, demonstrates the pressures the quick bowler puts on his body.

The worrying thing is I haven't touched his face!

Stripped Down IV

Don't bother trying to guess who this is, even I didn't recognise the name.

I did like the image though, and having spent far too much time on creating this "simple" image it gets posted for the shear sake of it.

I would send it as a coaching tip to the Black Caps management but apparently they don't know anything about cricket anyway.

Stripped Down II

Now this may look like a simple image but trust me it has taken a lot longer than one of my normal throw togethers.

The last Stripped Down generated some interest so who do we think this one is based on. It is a fairly distinctive delivery stride so I don't think it will prove too difficult.

HARbhajan Gives It A Tweak

What is it about spinners eyes? If they are a window on the soul there is some degree of darkness lurking there.

Still, Murali and Bhaji's eyes are easier to read than Vettori's tongue!

Boys 2 Men

Great efort by Dan The Man to reach 100 tests. It is a big call to perform at international level, carry your team's bowling attack and grow up, all on the public stage.

Look out Kapil Dev, it won't belong before you are joined on 400/4000.

Baby Faced, Yes; Assassins, No

Jack Brooks illustrates the Broad Effect - no amount of fist clenching and bouncing up and down can make that haircut and headband look threatening.

Graeme Hick - News Flash

We are hearing reports that Graeme Hick has decided not to retire but rather reinvent himself like the old campaigner he is. Hick is looking to concentrate on bowling which he believes will extend his career even further. He is quoted as saying " My long term goal is to bowl a very accurate pie but in the short term I think I will start with muffins".

Evolution Of A Delivery

No comment other than to say we miss watching Ishant Sharma bowling in a test match.

Name That Player

Time for an old fashion guessing game, and its an easy one to start with.

No body parts, we give you the whole player. Who is this speed demon.

Getting It There

It's a serious business getting that ball all the way down and in the right place. No wonder some of us get into some strange positions making it happen the way we want.

Good Form

Young but perfectly formed, this young off spinner shows real style. You get the feeling he can "turn the door knob" fairly hard.

700

This is not the magic 700th wicket but somewhere in the 690's. What it does show is that you don't get that many wickets without a real commitment to what you are doing - especially off your own bowling.

Well done Murali, we know there are plenty more to come.
