Good To Go?

Sanath Jayasuriya is starting to look a bit like the practice ball he is playing with - marked, a touch battered but still serviceable.

And yes, there is a certain similarity in shape as well.

Tired? Yeah Right!

The old 'un and his team took umbrage at my suggestion of tiredness and proceeded to give the Pakistan boys a good flogging. Just another example of the power of the blog.

Today in History

It is today, 1991, and to make matters worse the location is Hamilton. A young Sri Lankan by the name of Sanath Jayasuriya is making his test debut. What were the odds that 18 years later he would still be playing for his country, though admittedly struggling for runs, and able to command $975,000 for a future 3 year contract?

Not a bad effort.

One Day On

This weeks theme has developed into "you are only as good as your last innings".

Despite having joined the 300 ODI wicket club a day or so before Jayasuriya appears no less frustrated in failing to compile a big innings next time out.

300th

300 one day wickets and he can still raise a smile.

Sanath Jayasuriya gets a big kick out of yet another milestone and you have to admire someone who can get and give as much joy as this fella has over the years.
