Nothing like playing a world cup at home to ramp the pressure up to breaking point. It would seem the players cracked first but were closely followed by the home spectators, but far be it from me to cast the first stone.

The Bangla Boys Bounce

Can't fault the Bangla Boys for there enthusiasm, commitment and quality of cricket. They deserved to win the series about 27 to 0.

Cook Goes Retro

Alistair Cook invokes the spirits of Albert Trott and SF Barnes in an attempt to make some in roads into the batting in Bangladesh.

The old style action is fine it is just that, as opposed to the old greats, it didn't work very well.

There is no truth to the rumour that Cook is soon to pose for a series of cigarette cards.

Warm Up, Lie Down

I hope the old adage "you play the way you practice" does not apply to the Bangladesh Kittens. This lie down and take it approach can't be the product of good sports psychology, although I am happy to see they at least have their legs crossed.

Is 22 too young to be the captain of a side that is going to struggle in a significant number of series?

Is it a good thing to make your best player the captain?

Not So Correct

There was a time when most players from the sub-continent batted in a very correct manner, famed for their correct stroke play. Now days there are a great deal more players who are prepared to go up and over as well as through the gaps. It makes them more dangerous and it's not bad viewing either.
