Number 1

I have been saving this for a few days.

Rob Key swells with pride at taking his first ever first class wicket. The batsman's reaction was not recorded.

Rob has wintered well in the south seas and is reportedly working hard at his new role as all rounder (pun intended).

Not Just A Pretty Face

It seems to a humble observer such as myself that the quality of the cheerleaders mirrors the cricket in the IPL.

Sometimes spectacular, often average and always just a little strange.

Time For Another Caption Quest

Aren't those dancing girls just so in keeping with a classy event like the IPL?

I will start the ball rolling and immediately lower the tone with the classic cry - "Show us your growler!"

Now beat that.

Like A Frog In A Blender

Kamran Khan comes up with yet another unique way of propelling a leather ball quickly over 22 yards.

Viva diversity!

The Alien Has Landed

Pakistan are back and as otherworldly as ever. When it comes to space cadets Shahid Afridi is a ranking officer but there is no arguing with 6 for 38.

Pride In The Gold

Good to see Yashpal Singh putting his body on the line for the cause, or do they get paid by the catch?

Andre The Yell

It is great to know that out there on the county circuit is a loose cannon just waiting to scream at any batsman coming within his gaze. Now if we could get a few batsman to retaliate they could increase the price of admission.

Wedding Bells!

Not the greatest shot in the world but being there is everything.

Our favourite woman cricketer, Aimee Mason tied the knot yesterday with local Taranaki cricketing legend, Jamie "Whoppa" Watkins. It was a glittering occasion, despite Shilpa Shetty being otherwise committed, with a never ending supply of cricketing puns and jokes available to all those making a speech. The happy couple are pictured cutting the wedding cake, not adjusting their equipment as some have suggested.

A Frightening Shot

We can only hope that "Farmer" Giles is providing fielding practice for the inevitable top edge. If he is demonstrating an actual cricket shot I would be even more surprised than he seems to be.

Oh to be in England ...

...now that spring is here.

If you will forgive the punishment - one hopes that grey skies over the Rosebowl are not an omen for Mr Flower, who's appointment is a gift from the Gods to headline writers everywhere.

Now I Know Where I Saw That Face

Something about this photo of The Big Jesse has been bugging me. Who does it remind me of? I think I have cracked it.

What ever you do, don't get him angry!

More Tea Vicar?

Perhaps Ian O'Brien is not alone in being the victim of unfounded rumours. Nathan does seem a little precious himself in this shot.

Now I am not one to gossip, but...

... where is Ian's other hand?

Just kidding, of course. For the definitive statement on matters, Jrod has as always summed things up simply.

"Alas Poor Kookaburra .... "

" I knew him well Molesey. We spent a lot of bloody time together watching the cricket!"

Clear Eye, Straight Bat

One up with one to play, man is that bat going to get even wider over the next five days.

Good Form

Straight back.
Straight bat.
Strong feet.
High elbow.

The Napier Test did not produce a result but it proved to be a batting class worth watching.
